FAQ

Welcome!

We’re glad you’re here! We hope you will find our congregation warm and inviting and we look forward to making you feel at home.

Our church is fully compliant with the 1990 American Disability Act. Here you will find a handicap lift by the front entrance, large print hymnals, and handicap-accessible restrooms. Accommodations for wheelchairs are near the pipe organ and a wheelchair is on site for anyone who has a need once inside the building. An Automatic Electronic Defibrillator (AED) is located on the second floor for use by those who are trained. Many in our congregation are certified in both CPR and the use of the AED.

What are worship services like at Alexandria Church?

Worship at Alexandria Church touches the heart, engages the mind, and inspires the hand to act in service. Our Sunday morning service begins at 10:00 a.m. and concludes at 11. It is a tradtional service led by Pastor Nick and lay leaders that connects us with our past and yet remains relevant to the present. Preaching is rooted in the Bible and provides meaning and guidance to our lives today.

All those who are baptized are welcomed and invited to receive the sacrament of communion which is offered on the first Sunday of the month as well as during other times in the year. Parents determine when their child is old enough to participate; children who are baptized are wholeheartedly included. Grape juice is offered along with gluten-free bread and water for those with allergies or sensitivities.

Alexandria Church offers spirited and artful music in a variety of styles ranging from traditional hymns to selections by contemporary composers. The Chancel Choir is the musical centerpiece of our services while the Junior and Youth choirs lend an intergenerational touch. We frequently enjoy guest soloists and instrumentalists from the New York City area. The highlights of the musical program include the annual Christmas concert, The Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, special Easter selections, and occasional guest soloists and performers.

Our Nursery is duel-staffed by at least one adult and a teen helper. The Nursery provides a safe and nurturing environment for children from infancy through 24 months. Childcare is available Sunday mornings during the worship service and at various church-sponsored events. For parents who prefer to stay with their child, a live transmission of the worship service can be heard while in the Nursery if desired.
