Ongoing Opportunities to Serve
Prayer Ministry
Nearly 100 "prayer warriors" participate in Alexandria Church's prayer ministry. The nature of the prayers varies widely. We pray for healing (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, etc.) for those who mourn, for families embracing both joys and sorrows, for local, community, and global concerns, and so forth. These confidential requests for prayer are conveyed to our prayer members via email. To send a request to the prayer ministry coordinators, email them at
nancy.gayle schumann.hatch@gmail.com (note the space between the names). They will then pass your request along to the group for prayer. You can also email them if you would like to join the ministry and offer prayer for those who request it.
Flower Ministry
Flowers are given to the glory of God and their beauty enhances our Sunday morning worship. Flower donations may be given in memory of a loved one, in celebration of a life-event, or in honor of most anything. A brief explanation of your donation will be listed in the Sunday bulletin or it may be kept anonymous if you desire. You may take your flowers home with you after the last service of the day or ask our deacons to deliver them to a shut-in or a hospital. Detailed instructions are in the folder hanging next to the flower calendar in Fellowship Hall, click here, or call the church office for assistance.
Personal Products for the Homeless
Unused sample-sized shampoo, soap, mouth wash, and lotion--complimentary in most hotels--are being collected and given to the clients of the Trenton Rescue Mission and NORSWECAP of Phillipsburg. When you travel, bring these items home with you and add them to the collection box in Fellowship Hall. In addition, store bought deodorant, toothpaste, shaving supplies, and other personal products are welcome.
Clothing Drive
We have an ongoing clothing drive to support our high school students' annual mission trip. Items can be dropped off in Sunday School Room #6 Monday- Friday between 9am and noon, as well as on Sunday mornings between 10 and 11am.
Items accepted are: men's, women's, and children's clothing, boots, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, jewelry, and outerwear. You can also donate children's tory, games, books, sports equipment, and bedding in good condition.
Local Food Pantries we support
Donations are stored near the bottom of the steps leading from the narthex to the Youth Center (ask a Sunday usher to show you where) and are available to any church member or visitor who has a need without cost or obligation. In addition, donations from our pantry are regularly brought to The Frenchtown Food Pantry where they serve a larger but local population.
There is always a need for non-perishable foods and full-sized personal products. You may also support this ministry by sending a check to Frenchtown Presbyterian Church with "food pantry" written in the memo section. Financial support such as this allows them to purchase perishable foods like yogurt, cheese, meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, and eggs.
