Christian Education and Youth
"He will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths."
Isaiah 2:3
Christian Education programs at Alexandria First Presbyterian Church continue to be a vital and growing part of our church's ministry. Educational opportunities are available throughout the year to every age group including Sunday School, Junior and Senior High youth groups, confirmation, summer vacation Bible school, adult Bible study, and nursery care.
Bible Studies and Small Group Studies
Nursery Care
Our youngest children are in the loving care of a dedicated nursery staff where toys and books are abundant. Speakers in the nursery allow parents visiting their children to hear the worship service too.
Sunday School
Sunday school classes are available for children ages three through high school as an opportunity to grow in their own faith journey. Classes begin after the Children's Sermon (10:15 a.m.) from Labor Day to Memorial Day. Special care has been taken to coordinate the curriculum with a scope and sequence that follows the church calendar so conversations can continue at home with children and their parents.
On the first Sunday of the month, we celebrate "Family Worship" where children remain in the sanctuary with their parents. Nursery care and preschool activities are also available.
Vacation Bible School

We had a wonderful week at Vacation Bible School this year. Heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who helped make VBS the meaningful and fun time that it was. We're grateful for each and every child who participated in our program. Your presence made our day! While there are too many staffers to mention individually, we want to thank all the teachers, leaders, youth volunteers, pastors, snack coordinators, music leaders, and all those "behind the scenes."
Special thanks, too, go to our two sister churches who co-hosted the event with us: Milford and Frenchtown Presbyterian churches. We look forward to next year's VBS!
Confirmation
Offered to students in the eighth grade and older, the confirmation program teaches the essentials of our Presbyterian faith and prepares each confirmand to publicly profess his or her faith in Jesus Christ and become an adult member of the church.
Youth Group
Our Youth Ministry consists of Junior High (7th and 8th grade) and Senior High (9th through 12th grade) youth. In addition to Bible study on Sundays, this group enjoys outings throughout the year like snowtubing, go-karting, movie night, and more. Great fellowship and a shared love for Jesus Christ helps build camaraderie and strengthen bonds.
Every summer members of the Senior High youth group embarks on a week-long mission trip to help a community in need, connect with other Christian teens from around the nation, and strengthen their own faith. To help cover the cost, there are fellowship activities hosted by the participants as well as the ongoing clothing drive and ShopRite gift card programs. The group leads a worship service in the fall to share their experiences and God-sightings.
